tuorial days 8-12

Project description: this part of the tutorial was to help us learn about the calligraphy tools, and using shape tools, but in a more advanced way.  We used strokes to make shapes colorful and interesting as well as opacity.  We used new pathfinder tools to make the key.

New skills/processes/tools learned:brush options, border patterns, compound path, filling color using color picker, stroke caps, applying gradient

Shape tools: ellipse tool, rectangle tool, star tool

Drawing tools: pen tool

Self reflection:I think I did everything on here properly, and played around with everything on the tutorial.  I thought the stars all piled on top of each other were cool so i kept them on my final sheet.

First illustrator drawing project

Project Description: For this project we were learning how to use basic tools in illustrator by making the above drawings.  This is was very new since all we had been working on was photoshop, where everything is in pixels.

New skills/processes/tools learned: we used shape tools on the side to make each of the basic shapes you see, such as the diamond, pentagon, rectangle, triangle, oval, star, and square.  We used a process where we pasted the non basic shapes onto the blank sheet, and then traced over them with a pen tool, which was much easier than just drawing them by memory.

shape tools:rectangle tool, square tool, star tool,

drawing tools: pen and pencil tool

self reflection:The shape tools like the rectangle tool were very user friendly and were easy for me to use as soon as i knew where they were on the tool bar.  The pen tool on the other hand, took some time to get used to, but most of the shapes came out well.  I am especially proud of my bunny rabbit!  I wish my heart came out nicer but i could NOT get that one edge to be rounded out!

New spaceship project!!

Project description:  Our latest project was to make a spaceship with adobe illustrator.  We kind of had everything laid out for us on a tutorial which was really very good.  If you're interested in trying it, go to http://www.denisdesigns.com/blog/2009/03/create-a-simple-spaceship-in-illustrator/...it wasnt super hard and it didn't take an incredibly long time.

New skills/processes/tools learned:  In the tutorial we worked a lot with pathfinder, which was new for me.   Within the pathfinder window we used new tools such as subtract from shape tool area.  We also used shapes with opacity to make shadows on the spaceship.  This tutorial made everything kind of come together because for example i would never have thought to make shadows out of translucent shapes.

Shape tools: ellispse tool, rectangle tool

Drawing tools: pen tool

Self Reflection: I tried my hardest on this project to make my spaceship look like the spaceship in the tutorial and even tried to go a little bit beyond what i had to do by putting the stars in the background.  The only thing i would say i was less successful with was the fin of the spaceship which isn't quite the shape that i wanted.

new post!

I was just informed that we had to have AT LEAST  two posts on this blog.  Thats fine because its not that big of a deal to make a quick post, but then i couldn't figure out my password.  I spent around 5 minutes attempting to remember my password.  I really struggle with technology, and should really learn how to use it better.
